Ebenezer Harcourt was the hero of the day as the Flying Eagles of Nigeria booked their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing U-20 AFCON, after a penalty shootout win against defending champions, Senegal.
The quarter-final fixture, which saw Odinaka Okoro and Ebenezer Harcourt in the starting line-up for the fourth consecutive game, ended goalless after 120 minutes of frantic action. But it was Ebenezer who proved pivotal to the Flying Eagles advancing into the next round against their West African rivals.
Saving two crucial penalties with strong dives and Senegal rattling the bar with another, Ebenezer Harcourt ensured the Flying Eagles triumphed 3-1 in the Penalty shootouts, sending Nigeria into the semi-finals of the U-20 AFCON, and booking their ticket to the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile.
The Flying Eagles will face South Africa in the semi-finals on Thursday.
